CTI Information

CTI Drive-In Forks have been manufactured in the U.S. since 1967, and we are very proud of their fine reputation for performance. When selected and used properly, CTI Drive-In Forks will provide years of satisfactory service and save many labor intensive man hours.

These forks come in many sizes, making it possible to match the lift capacity of the forks with the loader lift capacity and the bucket size.

To determine which forks are right for your loader, use the following three guidelines.

1. The size of forks listed in the CTI Manufacturer Loader Lists are the smallest forks suitable for the machine, based on the machine's lift capacity.
   
   
2. If you have an oversized or aftermarket bucket, you may need larger forks. However, lift capacity is still governed by the rated capacity of the machine on which the forks are mounted.
   
   NOTE: Larger forks will hang down farther below the bucket. Rod Holder Kits are available to custom fit larger forks for smaller buckets.
   
To account for variations and modifications in buckets, ALWAYS MEASURE the vertical bucket opening. Measure the vertical bucket opening from the bottom cutting edge to the top lip (Dimension A) to determine what size forks are required to fit the bucket.


3. The DEALER OR END USER IS RESPONSIBLE for measuring the bucket opening to ensure proper fit.

CRITICAL MEASUREMENTS

The suggested attachments in the CTI Equipment Match section are based on published machine specifications (which do not include bucket openings) where available, and standard bucket sizes and machine configurations. LIFT CAPACITY and BUCKET OPENING ARE CRITICAL when choosing forks for any loader bucket.

The maximum lifting capacity of the machine (generally determined by tipping the loads) can be two to three times its rated capacity. Therefore, the maximum load which should be handled with the forks is always limited by either the load rating for the specific fork model being utilized, assuming center and equal loading on the tines, or by the rated lift capacity of the machine on which the forks are mounted, whichever is lower.

PRIMARY CRITERIA

There are two primary criteria for selecting forks:

1. LIFT CAPACITY.
   The lift capacity of the forks for each model is defined in the accompanying manufacturer's literature and recorded on labels on the forks. The capacity is based on a load applied at the mid-point of the tines.
   
   
2. BUCKET SIZE.
   Forks must physically fit the bucket. Forks must be at least six inches taller than the bucket when it is measured from the cutting edge to the top flat surface in order to allow for proper mounting.

OPERATIONAL WARNING

Never roll forks back so that the load can fall on you or others.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES

In addition, it is important to keep in mind the following points:

1. Based on established guidelines, the loader manufacturer's rated lift capacity is a percentage of the tipping load for the machine (35% for crawler units, 50% for rubber tired units). The matching of the forks to the loader, assumed in the CTI Equipment Match section, is based on this rated lift capacity. Actual loader lift capacities could exceed the capabilities of the forks.



2. CTI Drive-In Forks are intended to be used on tractor-loaders, articulated loaders and crawler loaders, with operating weights greater than 3500 lbs.



3. All machines using CTI Drive-In Forks must also be equipped with the standard counterweight recommended by the manufacturer.



4. Because of the increased load radius when forks are used and the additional weight of the forks, the net lift capacity of the loader equipped with forks is expected to range from approx 70% of rated lift capacity for small machines to approx 80% of rated lift capacity for large machines.

6. CTI takes no responsibility for the machines listed in the CTI Equipment Match section meeting OSHA or other safety recommendations and standards.



7. The user must verify the adaptability of each CTI model for the specific bucket to be fitted, recognizing the bucket opening range applicable to each model.

THESE ARE GUIDELINES ONLY. They are intended to aid the operator/end user who has the most knowledge of the particular machine being used, the nature of the load being lifted, and the condition of the terrain being driven.

NOTE: CTI Drive-In Forks come complete with an owner's manual and safety labeling. Be sure all instructions and cautions are read and understood before operating any unit equipped with these forks. The owner's kit also includes a safety manual for rough terrain forklifts which covers proper operating practices.
